Outpatient Behavioral Health Programs

Bayview Behavioral Hospital is proud to offer its outpatient psychiatric program as an addition to our longstanding outpatient program for substance abuse. Our outpatient behavioral health program began in 2014.

Patients can join our outpatient programs from the community or as part of their transition, stepping down from our inpatient program. Our goal is to provide patients with long-term stability. We have two types of outpatient programs: Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is offered from three to five days a week, for three hours per day. The program provides a structured setting for patients dealing with psychiatric disorders like depression, anxiety disorders like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or other conditions.

Treatment is organized and therapeutically intense. Patients meet in group therapy most days and with a doctor once a week. Our goal is stability—to help patients return to the community (for those on step-down care) or gain enough structure in their lives to lessen the need for inpatient admission.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is offered weekdays, 9 a.m. through 4 p.m., like a work or school day. The program offers a goal-oriented treatment approach to chronic mental health patients with a general psychiatric disorder or a dual diagnosis (mental illness and substance abuse). It offers a full-day treatment program as an alternative to 24-hour hospitalization, provided patients are not considered a risk to themselves or others.

For hospitalized patients preparing for discharge, the PHP helps their transition back into the community. Our goal-oriented program is ideal for patients who have been hospitalized repeatedly or who are involved in an extended treatment program.
